TKO Clean Sweep at the Kumite!

The TKO team once again did the Academy proud with a clean sweep of 4 wins out of 4 at the big Kumite event in Norwich staged by Internet TV channel and we must thank them for putting on an professionally run event, superb organisation and I would like to thank them for giving us the opportunity to be involved, it was certainly an event a little bit different to the norm.

Second thing to say is my appreciation for all our members who made the long journey to support the team, over 40 people went in the end and it was something that was really appreciated by those fighting. Also got to thank our friends from other gyms who came to support us as well, Glen Merritt from Star, Ollie Edwards from Invicta and Barney Holland from Dragon K/Boxing

George won the big KING BOXING 4 man tournament and was superb first defeating a tough Irish fighter Keith Hamilton then taking first place in a final with Steve Raybould. Now at this point I must say all I can about Steven and the performance he gave as well. Having had to fight 4 tough rounds in his semi final, an extra round being needed to decide that one he then did exactly the same in the final as after 3 rounds him and Georges fight was declared a draw. So the two boys then gave it everything in a VERY VERY close 4th round which the judges gave to George by a split decision. The two lads were a credit to the sport and the event could not have been scripted better as both are rematched on our next KOMBAT ZONE event on 13th May for the IKF British Junior Featherweight title, a fight that you just CANNOT miss!

Patric Halforty had gotten us off to a great start with a points win over a tough Callum Meeks and Kay Sumner won a points decision over Ireland’s Kerrie O’Hanlon. Both won well, both had to work hard for their wins and I am very proud of all 3 of the team for representing us so well. Harry Hennon was due to fight, but unfortunately an opponent could not be found. Hopefully this week I will be able to announce a fight for Harry on our KOMBAT ZONE event if details can be finalised, fingers crossed!

So..another great success for us and to say I am pleased with both the performances and also they way they conducted themselves is an understatement. Also taking as many people as we did (more than some people have in their whole club!) was just great.  George, Kay, Harry, hopefully Patric and the rest of the team will be appearing at KOMBAT ZONE – Next Generation on 13th May, be sure to come along and support them…and the rematch between George and Steven will be one to watch

You will be able to watch this event very soon on
