Our teams last competitive outing of the year took us to Wishaw in Scotland for a great event organised by Rivals gym and we took Harry Hennon and Kelly Copeland to compete there. Thanks go to all the Allan family for looking after us, from picking us up from the airport to the very end, as always great to work with them.
Harry Hennon got back on track after having a draw on our show 2 weeks ago and dismantled his opponent very very quickly scoring a first round stoppage win. Nice win and good way to finish his year, a year that has seen him unbeaten in 5 full contact fights which included contests in Ireland as well course this trip to Scotland.
Kelly Copeland moved to 8 fights with 8 wins in a tough close fight with Ashley Brace from Wales. At the end it was a split decision for Kelly and with it came the WKA Commonwealth title. Ashley came out fast as we knew she would and I’m pretty sure the judges would have given her the first two rounds, but I’m very proud of the way Kelly kept her composure and was able to keep to our game plan and outworked Ashley up close as well as out kicking her.
Kelly took the last 3 rounds and with it the title. It was one of the best TKO wins ever I think and testament to the hard work she puts in. As I say loads of times there really is no substitute for hard work and she certainly puts the hours in. That was her fourth fight of the year, she has won and defended the IKF British title, has a defence of that title already lined up for Feb so it’s probably fair to say she’s earned her New year rest.
That was our last outing of 2012 but plans are already in place to make 2013 even busier.
Thanks go to all our supporters who flew up to support the fighters, it really was appreciated and in fact during Kelly’s fights part of the arena became ‘mini-England’ and the atmosphere they created was great.
Hopefully some fight footage will be available very soon and I will put links on our TKO Academy Facebook page
