Our busy weekend started Saturday with a trip to Hastings with 5 of our fighters competing on a show promoted by Carl Denne. They were accompanied by over 60 supporters who had a great night watching with the team going 4 wins with just 1 loss. A brilliant result, testament to the hard work they all put it.
Jeevan Rakar got us off to a great start with a win in an International fight against a tough Irish fighter from Joe Hagan’s gym. ‘Relentless’ as we call him pressured his taller opponent from the start and came away with a clear win.
Kay Sumner made a great K1 debut in another International fight with top Irish fighter Catherine Cullinane. Showing great composure she worked very nicely mixing it up with nice low kicks to stop Catherine from working. A great win in her first fight in 2 years.
Audrius Marcelo was in what I thought was the best fight of the night with a great K1 fight with Jordan Whyte from Assassins Gym. Real tear up!! He had to work hard but put the win his way scoring a knockdown in the final 30 seconds of the fight.
Rytis Vilonis scored his second win under K1 rules with a clear points win over Ahmed Khan. Making good use of the reach and long legs the win was never in doubt.
We had one loss with Tegan Hacker losing to Stacey Cooper. This was a war! best fight of the night according to MC Malcolm Martin and the two girls went at it hard and after two rounds I believed Tegan was ahead. However knowing she needed a big round Stacey came out hard in the third and scored a standing count on Tegan, and then followed up with another big shot and so for her safety I pulled Tegan out. Always a hard decision to make but safety must always come first however a great performance nonetheless for a girl whose just 15 and has had 3 fights in just 6 weeks!
Just a great night, thanks go to all our supporters and my corner team of Warren Fryer, Tyler Oxford and Bradley Fothergill.
