We recently staged another successful KOMBAT ZONE event at the Casino Rooms with our own team having some great results on the night.
Chayden Carpenter won the IKF British Junior title in quick fashion stopping the very good Kraig Green (Lincoln KA) in just over 1 minute into the first round. Starting fast and strong he never gave Green a chance to settle scoring a knockdown with a jump back kick leaving Green unable to beat the referee’s count.
Tegan Hacker made her senior K1 debut and won in very good fashion winning via 2nd rd stoppage over Emma Ibrahim. Jeevan Raker finally stepped back into the ring after over a year out and won a close point decision in his first K1 fight and Safeerullah Saffe made an explosive Casino debut winning his Boxing fight in just over 20 seconds. Coming out fast and strong he never gave his opponent Jermaine Robinson a chance to settle. Seeing the final 10 seconds of the fight in slow motion it shows Saffe hitting him with 4 great shots plus a fifth to the body as well. A totally dominant performance and his 3rd stoppage win in a row since he started competing.
There were losses for the team but Rytis Villionis and Luke O’Grady can be very proud of their performances. Rytis lost his Southern Area title in what may well have been the fight of the night against Sheridan Taylor from Minotaurs. It was truly a fantastic fight and although the scorecards went the way of Taylor, Rytis pushed him hard all the way. Luke’s debut fight came against a very capable opponent in Alex Gold from Assassin who proved too sharp on this occasion but Luke fought well and so a great learning experience.
The event at the Casino was the start of a very busy period for the team and so look out for further updates.
